How to Join NEFGAJoining NEFGA is a simple, painless 2 step process. First, fill out the Membership form. This will send off an e-mail to our Membership Director with all the personnel data we need for our records. Second, go to our forums and create an account. When the Membership Director gets your email, you will be added to the "NEFGA Member" usergroup. That's all you need to do to become a member of NEFGA, and have your stats listed on our Hall of Fame. Becoming a Voting member requires one additional step. You need to pay dues (currently $5.00 per person). To do this, you need to contact our Treasurer, and follow their instructions. After dues are paid, the Treasurer will add you to the Voting Members usergroup. This will grant you access to the special, Voting Members-only forums. |
NEFGA Mission Statement:The Northeast Florida Geocachers Association promotes the sport of geocaching, educates new and continuing members in the sport and provides fun, creative and educational "event caches". The NEFGA is a central place for the sharing of geocaching-related information for Northeast Florida. What is Geocaching?Geocaching is a fun adventure game for the whole family using GPS technology. All over the world people set up "geocaches" and share the location coordinates with others. There are a simple set of rules that keep the game fair and safe. There are hundreds of geocaches right here in Northeast Florida. Click on the link below to go to Geocaching.com and find out more about this fun activity! |
"Geocache on lighthouse grounds", posted by ragendem on 06/17/09 12:42 27 PM
While I was visiting the St. Augustine lighthouse a few weeks ago, I placed a geocache on the grounds. I'm wondering - should I just publish it or do I need to talk to them first?
"NEFGA.com going down...", posted by Dave and Michelle on 10/15/08 04:52 59 PM
...but not for too long. I just received an email from our hosting company. Here's the important part.
Quote:
We are pleased to inform you that we will be installing new
hardware on the core switches that are used by the webserver
that hosts your account. In order for these upgrades to
be performed the server will be disconnected from the Internet
for approximately one hour.
Due to the magnitude of the upgrades which will occur across
all core switches, altering the underlying technology that our
data center infrastructure is built upon, our normal redundant
mechanisms can not be used. The redundant systems have to be
concurrently upgraded along with the live systems.
Afterwards, you will benefit from increased router capacity
across our whole network and infrastructure.
The upgrade can take up to an hour and will occur on October 23,
2008, sometime between 12 am and 6 am Central Time.
During this upgrade, your website will not be online for
approximately one hour. Writing and editing of files in your web
space will not be possible.
Please be sure to make any changes to your web space before
October 23, 2008. Depending on how frequently your site is updated,
you may find it useful to post a notice on your website telling
visitors or to inform web-based application users that your
site or service will not be available during this time.
So, sometime next Thursday morning, we'll be down for an hour or so.

"Storm Watch is broken (not anymore)", posted by Dave and Michelle on 09/25/08 06:51 18 PM
In case anyone is wondering, the National Hurricane Center decided to change the format of their RSS feed, which is why Storm Watch is currently not working. I'm working on it.
--Dave
Edit: Fixed it.

"Daylight Saving Time", posted by Dave and Michelle on 03/09/08 06:50 22 AM
Daylight Saving Time has started again. To ensure that the times you see in the forums are correct, you must go into your profile and change your timezone. For most of NEFGA, that would be changing from "-5 Eastern" to "-4 Atlantic." Thank you and we'll see you again in 6 months or so to do it again.
